Choice One Engineering Keyed Up for New
Venture
Recently, Choice One
Engineering wanted to capitalize on its
resources, develop its employees and stir up
excitement in the company. Contrary to the
“sit and wait out the recession” mentality,
owners chose to put faith in the abilities
of Choice One Engineering employees to
ignite growth and expansion.
Company Vice-President
Matt Hoying and Design Engineer Brian
Schmidt, both civil engineers with the
Sidney, Ohio, company for several years,
were given the opportunity to generate new
ideas. Their chosen strategy? Open a new
Choice One Engineering location in Loveland,
Ohio.
Sound risky in today’s
economy? Not to Choice One Engineering
President Tony Schroeder. “We put a lot of
thought into the opening of a second office
location,” says Schroeder. “But with Matt
and Brian, who are two bright,
knowledgeable, hard-working employees, and
with the 16 years of business experience at
the Sidney location to back them up, we are
confident that this venture will be
successful, and that we will have smart
leadership at the new location.”
“Additionally,” continues
Schroeder, “we were excited to realize we
had such motivated, forward-thinking
employees with interest in undertaking such
challenges and responsibilities in an
economy that has dampened a lot of spirits.
We decided that the opportunity to expand
the company’s geographic reach—and reward
the ambition of our employees—was a risk
worth taking.”
Therefore, on September 7,
2011, Choice One Engineering will be opening
a second location at 203 W. Loveland Avenue
in Loveland, Ohio. A ribbon-cutting and open
house will be held at 10:00am, with an open
house to follow from 10:00am to 11:00am. All
are welcome to stop to check out the new
office and enjoy light refreshments.
“We know it’s a gamble to
open a new, small business in today’s
economy,” states Hoying, but we have 16
years of small business experience and a
combined 80 years of engineering expertise
to back us up from the Sidney office.” As
such, support for the new office will be
provided by the staff in the Sidney office
until the Loveland office gets on its feet.
“It’s
an exciting challenge,” states Schmidt, a
civil engineer with expertise in bridge and
storm design. “I’m looking forward to
undertaking this new venture and to
providing the people of southwest Ohio with
quality, value-based engineering and
surveying services.”
As one of the three
founders of Choice One Engineering in 1994,
Schroeder knows the ropes when it comes to
opening a small business. “The key to the
success of our company is the company
culture we promote. We provide our clients
with the peace of mind that a project is
going to be taken care of, and that we will
make their jobs easier,” Schroeder
maintains. “We want to bring that same
mentality and practice to the Loveland
office. We are ensuring that by entrusting
current Sidney employees to open the new
office.”
